Much Needed and Much Appreciated

This week I had off school for February Break. It was MUCH NEEDED and MUCH APPRECIATED! I flew home last Saturday and got to spend the entire week relaxing. It was AMAZING! Some of the highlights were:

- Going to Disneyland not once, but TWICE (and even getting a pass)
- Going to lunch at my favorite restaurant, Myabi, with my family and best friends Kristi and Ashley
- Getting picked up and dropped off at the airport by Daisy (along with my Mom and Dad)
- Catching up with one of my long time friends Lauren
- Going to lunch at a yummy Mexican restaurant in downtown Claremont with Linda
- Meeting Cindy at downtown Disney for a nice lunch
- Finding out that Paige got into BYU
- Going on a walk with Kristi and getting to wear just capris and a t-shirt (NO JACKET NEEDED)
- Searching online with Kristi and Ashley for cute baby things (for Kristi of course)
- BYU beating SDSU in Basketball
- Going with Ashley to Lucille's and buying a new pair of jeans at Urban
- Spending the day with and having a sleepover with my nieces and Kim
- Going to Donut Man and getting a strawberry filled donut
- Watching Easy A with my Dad and Ash
- Spending Friday in the pouring rain with my parents, Katie, and Alice at Disneyland
- Making birthday packages for Maggie and Tasha
- BYU baseball winning 3 out of their 4 games this weekend
- Long naps with my Mom
- Getting a pedicure and manicure with my little sister and the Weaver Girls (Patti, Courtney, and Kayla)
- Watching countless Criminal Minds with my Mom

I could seriously go on and on about all of the wonderful things this week brought me. Pictures will soon follow...

Baby Shower

So this past weekend I went to a baby shower for my cousin Keena. She is one cute girl with one ADORABLE baby bump. I just love Keena to death. She is one of those sister cousins (I stole that saying from Blake and Brett who call themselves brother cousins). But you know, it's where you are more like sisters than cousins. I have so many wonderful memories of us growing up together and it is crazy that in just a few months she is going to be a mom. She is going to be amazing!

It was great getting to visit with her and other family members at the shower. I have to admit that being at a baby shower kind of makes you "baby shower" hungry. I'm not necessarily baby hungry yet, more like hungry for pink, polka dots, sparkles, ruffles, bows, and I could go on and on. I know that baby showers for boys are fun too, but there is something so appealing to me about all the pink (I hope I'm not jinxing myself into only having boys by saying this).

I LOVE the ruffles and big button on the purse. I also loved how pink and soft the blanket was (they were made by two different people, but coincidentally matched)

This picture of us makes me smile :)

Valentine's Party

Today we had our Valentine's Day party at school (which is weird since Valentine's is on Monday, but it is what it is). I was sooo impressed with the mailboxes that my students made! It was a fun day filled with lots of games, fun, and of course sweets. What made it even better was that I finally had an actual camera to use!Yay! We bought this one this week as a Valentine's gift :)

I made this for our second grade aide, Miss Brenda.

The glittery elephant mailbox is mine!

This one is an Ipad ha

100th Day of School!!!

Yesterday we celebrated the 100th day of school! Only 80 more days to go! I can't believe how fast time has gone by. Thinking back to the first couple weeks I seriously (I mean SERIOUSLY) never thought this school year would end. But now, its amazing that we are over half way through the year. It is so neat to see how much my students have improved since the beginning. I'm actually beginning to think I do make a little bit of a difference. We had a blast celebrating the 100th day of school!
Every student brought 100 objects and we did a bunch of 1oo's activities.
1. Sort your 100 objects (groups of 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) and see which numbers can make equal groups.
2. Roll a quarter 100 times and graph your results (heads vs. tails)
3. Subtraction Game (they are having a hard time with the double-digit subtraction right now. Any suggestions?). Start at 100, roll the dice (blue is tens and red is ones) and subtract that number. First one to 0 is the winner!
4. 100 good acts of citizenship. Each student got 4 leaves for our "citizenship tree" and they wrote 1 good act of citizenship they were going to do on each leaf. We then had 100 good acts of citizenship for the day.
5. They then got to create some sort of illustration with their 100 objects, which I took a picture of and will put in a class book. I put pictures up of some of my favorites.
And of course what is fun without some yummy treats. A bunch of the kids wanted to share their 100 objects with the class. They filled up with root beer barrels, fruit loops, Hersheys kisses, marshmallows, cheerios, chocolate chips, suckers, and gold fish (you notice how I said they right? I wasn't about to put those germs in my mouth haha).
